NEA has announced it is participating in a Series A financing of MailFrontier along with Draper Fisher Jurvetson. NEA general partner Stewart Alsop and DFJ partner Tim Draper are joining the board of the company.
MailFrontier is an enterprise software company focused on email management. Its first product, Matador, tackles the problem of spam with a downloadable desktop client aimed at individual users of Microsoft Outlook. Matador differentiates from other approaches in three ways: by automatically learning which people and topics are important to the individual user; by users collaborating with each other to identify and delete spam; and by its groundbreaking sender verification process and arsenal of spam-fighting tools.
A beta download of Matador for Microsoft Outlook (not Outlook Express — coming soon) is available.
