F/V Point Reyes at Sunrise – Tomales Bay – 2010

Last year, I took a photo workshop at Tomales Bay led by Dave Wyman and Ken Rockwell. One of the spots along our adventure was this fishing boat aground at Inverness – a boat that’s been photographed many, many times! We had some beautiful light this particular morning.

Earlier this week I selected this image to attempt to enhance it a bit in Photoshop CS5. Click to continue reading the approach I took. Here’s the original image:

Breaking Away @ Stanford

Breaking Away - Trey Ratcliff @ Stanford - 2011

A couple of months ago HDR photographer Trey Ratcliff held a photo walk at Stanford University. It was a beautiful late afternoon – and some 200 photographers showed up to join Trey for his second photowalk around the Stanford Campus.

This shot was taken with my tiny Canon PowerShot S95 and post-processed in Photoshop using Nik Software’s Color Efex Pro 4 – in particular the Details Enhancer and Cross Processing Filters.

I titled it Breaking Away – with the bicyclist heading home…ignoring the crowd.

Sunrise in Stockholm

Sunrise - Stockholm - 2011 by Scott Loftesness

Here’s an image from a recent visit to Stockholm, Sweden – shot just at sunrise with my tiny Canon PowerShot S95.

I did a bit of post-processing using a combination of David Nightingale’s curves adjustments along with Nik’s Color Efex Pro 4. I love how these colors turned out – they so captured my memory of this morning.

Exploring the iPhone 4S Camera – Stanford Memorial Church

Stanford Memorial Church - iPhone 4S - Scott Loftesness

Tonight, on my way to my Stanford Continuing Studies photography class, I shot this image of Stanford Memorial Church using my new iPhone 4S. Obviously, they’re setting up for an event this weekend!

The image was post-processed a bit in Photoshop using Nik’s Color Efex Pro 4 to add a bit of contrast. The iPhone 4S is such a great camera to have in my pocket!

Douglas C-47 Skytrain at Castle Air Museum

Douglas C-47 Skytrain at Castle Air Museum

Here’s another photo from almost four years ago taken at the Castle Air Museum in Atwater, California. This time, it’s a C-47 Skytrain, the workhorse transport aircraft of WW II, the Berlin Airlift, etc.

This shot was taken using my first digital SLR, a Canon 30D, as a single RAW image. Postprocessing was done using Lightroom 3, Photoshop CS5 (to remove power lines, etc) along with Nik’s HDR Efex Pro and Color Efex Pro.

Hope you enjoy it!
