The Olive Grove at Filoli

In the Grove - Filoli - 2014

Another image from my Fujifilm X-T1 on a recent visit to Filoli.

The X-T1 is my new favorite camera – a joy to use and it produces some beautiful images!

Processed in Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CC – monochrome conversion using VSCO Film – and a touch of platinum toning.

A Favorite Tree at Filoli

Camperdown Elm - Filoli - 2014

At the end of the Bowling Green at Filoli is this beautiful Camperdown elm tree. I’ve shot it many times – with leaves and without, in morning and afternoon light.

This image is a recent one shot in afternoon light with my Fujifilm X-T1. Converted to monochrome using Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.

The Main House at Filoli

Main House - Filoli - 2014

When I’m at Filoli, I try to avoid the people. But this image – with the beautiful little girl enjoying herself – brings life alive!

Shot with my Fujifilm X-T1.

San Miguel Church in Santa Fe

San Miguel Church - Santa Fe - 2014

Here’s a late afternoon view of the San Miguel Church on the Old Santa Fe Trail. This church claims to be the oldest church building in America.

Image taken with my Fujifilm X-T1 and post-processed in Lightroom 5 with VSCO Film and Nik’s Silver Efex Pro 2.

Lost in Love in Santa Fe

Lost in Love - Santa Fe - 2014

This is another image taken along Santa Fe’s famous Canyon Road – where many of the city’s art galleries are located. It was late afternoon and we were slowly walking up the road to have dinner at Geronimo (where I had elk for the first time – sourced from New Zealand and marinated for a day in dark beer!).

I loved how the late afternoon sun was lighting up these two pieces of our door sculpture and captured this shot with my Fujifilm X-T1. Post-processed in Lightroom using VSCO Film.

Such is Love along Santa Fe’s Canyon Road

Such is Love - Santa Fe - 2014

We headed out along Santa Fe’s Canyon Road – for an early dinner reservation at Geronimo. Along the way, most of the galleries were closing up shop at the end of the day.

Up an alley, I noticed this sculpture – standing up against that building with the crumbling wall in the late afternoon sun. And the brilliant blue doorway. Wonder what’s behind that door?

Isn’t this what Santa Fe is all about? Such is love along Canyon Road…shot with my Fujifilm X-T1.

Alone along Canyon Road in Sante Fe

Alone - Santa Fe - 2014

Walking along Canyon Road in Santa Fe late in the day last week, I came across this sculpture – reminds me of Jack London.

Shot with my Fujifilm X-T1 and post-processed in Lightroom 5, Photoshop CC and Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.

Red Peppers in Santa Fe

Peppers - Santa Fe - 2014

A popular decoration in Santa Fe are these dried red peppers – hanging in doorways and windows – and on gates.

I found them fascinating as subjects – especially as the lighting shifted from early morning through the afternoon and into evening.

This is a late afternoon example shot at The Inn of the Five Graces with my Fujifilm X-T1.

That Fabric in Santa Fe

Iridescent - Santa Fe - 2014

We recently spent a few days in Santa Fe – with my Fujifilm X-T1 and iPhone 5s.

This is one of my favorite shots from the weekend – shot inside the main building at Jackalope with the Fujifilm X-T1. I titled it “Iridescent” – that’s what the vibrant colors brought to mind.

Jackalope reminds me of the old Cost Plus Imports in San Francisco – imports from all over the world, lots of doo dads and trinkets – and some beautiful fabric and pottery. A place to step out of whatever your normal is.

If you go to Santa Fe, be sure to visit Jackalope!

Candles in the Light

Candles - Santa Fe - 2014

While visiting an import store in Santa Fe, I came across these candles from Indonesia. There was beautiful indirect light coming through the room providing some beautiful contrasts across the shapes of the candles.

Image taken with my Fujifilm X-T1 and post-processed using Lightroom 5, Photoshop CC, ALCE, and Nik Color Efex Pro 4.
