I mentioned previously that over the last couple of weeks, Google was running 4-5 days behind in updating itself on new weblog postings. I just checked this morning, and it’s now got weblog updates as of mid-day on Thursday — running about 1-1/2 days behind.
This got me wondering why Google doesn’t add a Weblogs tab to its new Google News service? Google News is apparently their engine for doing quick refreshes of over 4,000 news sources on the web. They could use that same technology to capture the rapid dynamics of weblogs — and serve it up on a weblogs tab on the News page alongside Business, Sci/Tech, Health, Sports, Entertainment, etc. Plus, then we’d have a search capability for looking across weblogs that could be very useful.
