The real world of identity management

David L. Margulius writes in InfoWorld about the high priority being places on identity management and provisioning systems. He provides an excellent survey of what’s happening and then brings us back to today’s reality.

In the future, enterprises may deploy interoperable, standards-based, fully automated end-to-end identity management and provisioning systems or best-of-breed building blocks to create those systems.

But for now, don’t be surprised if you end up talking to a help desk to get a new password or waiting to get account access for some paperwork that’s sitting on a sys admin’s desk somewhere.
