Gary Delsohn reports in the Sacramento Bee about Gov. Schwarzenegger’s plan to streamline California government.
The state has 78,000 cars, he said, about one for every four employees. “Two or three” state agencies have 50 to 60 people who work in communications or press relations.
Some 50 state entities are responsible for policy on infrastructure that includes highways, water, public works, energy and housing. More than 1,000 executive staff members work in the offices of managers who run 79 departments and 12 agencies.
