Procurement Auctions in California

Sacramento Bee columnist/weblogger Daniel Weintraub notes a bill (AB 722) passed last year that took effect January 1 permitting the State of California’s Department of General Services to implement reverse auctions for procurement. Let’s hope they get on with it — soon! Time is money — in this state especially!

Meanwhile, the state’s Legislative Analyst has weighed in with an initial review of the governor’s new budget proposal.

We believe that the Governor’s proposal provides a solid starting point for budget deliberations. It includes realistic revenue and caseload assumptions, as well as real and ongoing solutions from most areas of the budget. At the same time, however, it presents the Legislature with numerous policy issues and concerns.

Let’s hope so!
