Email reliability

Don Park laments the impact spam is having on how all of us deal with our email inboxes.

I used to feel comfortable with reliability of e-mails. When I send something to somebody, I felt reasonably sure that it will be delivered and read. That is no longer true today even with wide use of spam filters. When I send an e-mail now, I no longer feel sure of it being read by the receipient.

A few months back, I began using SpamBayes for the email I receive using Outlook. It’s roughly equivalent to the built-in spam filter I use in Apple’s Mail application. Once trained, it does a great — although certainly not perfect — job of sorting spam from real mail. Highly recommended!
