Back home this morning after a few days in Boston and on Cape Cod. A delightful couple of days — fall in New England is a great time of year. The trees are just starting to get splashes of reds and yellows. A friend’s taking his kids on a Sunday drive north this weekend to do some “leaf peeping”.
Cape Cod was sheer delight — it had been too many years since I’d been there. Wood shingled houses, American flags out front, two lane roads curving through the gentle hills and then the ocean. First time for me at the Chatham Bars Inn — the property is totally Wi-Fi’d by the way. Nice!
A couple of classic Boston taxi rides along the way — cabbies in Boston are a totally unique breed and proud of it. You can never quite anticipate what that experience is going to be like!
Boston downtown and Logan Airport continue to be an absolute mess — this is going to be a beautiful city again in a couple of years but, in the meantime, yeesh, what a mess.
Had dinner at Clio in Boston. Wow!
Airplane reading on this trip was Wallace Stegner’s Crossing to Safety. Yes, it’s a long flight home.
