Microsoft has released version 2.0 of its Office XP Web Services package. The download turns Office XP into “smart client” software.
Smart clients enable XML Web services to import data directly from the Internet or from enterprise applications into an application or document, which benefits from continual updating.
I installed the first version of this package back in January and, other than playing around for about 10 minutes one day trying to get stock quotes, I never found anything useful to be done with it. Is Version 2.0 any different? Chris Kunicki on OfficeZealot.com reports on the new version. The biggest change appears to be the inclusion of the Fabrikam Solution Sample.
