Doug picks up the discussion on Akamai’s “edge-based” web services with other examples (other than the silly credit card example). I think his point is that there are certain read-only data sources which could move to being served as a web service from the edge — that makes much more sense.
I also agree with him in his appreciation of Userland Software’s “Radio Userland” — my personal “edge engine”.
