Wings of Freedom

The Collings Foundation’s B-17 Flying Fortress and B-24J Liberator are at Moffett Field for a few days as part of the Foundation’s Wings of Freedom tour. They’ll be visiting a number of other airports in the Bay Area, Lake Tahoe, and northern California before heading to Oregon and Washington.

These are amazing aircraft to see up close. They seem small — in comparison to the big bombers of the 50’s and 60’s — but they saved the day for this country during World War II. It’s good to see such great vintage aircraft in such superb flying condition.
