Speeding Away

From an article in Sunday’s New York Times Week in Review section by Dexter Filkins writing from Baghdad:

On my way home, I noticed that a car was following me. Three times, the mysterious car accelerated to get close. Two men inside: a young man, maybe in his 30’s, and a bald man behind the wheel. As the car drew close, my chase car – a second vehicle, filled with armed guards, deployed to follow my own – cut the men off in traffic. I sped away.

And a letter to the editor today from Tom Miller of Oakland, CA:

The war has come to this: a lonely grieving mother, initially standing alone, joined now by people of all classes and backgrounds, demanding an end to the war. In opposition stands the most powerful man in the world, who never admits mistakes. The tipping point has arrived.
