The End of the Short Days

Tonight at 10:08 PM Pacific marks this year’s Winter Solstice – the official end of fall and the beginning of winter out where we live. But, more importantly for us, it’s the true end of the short days.

Today’s walk around Sharon Park brought home what somebody said to me yesterday – “the sun is just too bright”! The sun is too bright because when you’re driving these days, it’s just up there a bit above the horizon and those sunbeams shine their way into the car at these low angles – sort of like a stealth radar beam. Wreaks a lot of havoc with traffic – either in their windshields or in their rear view mirrors!

But, it’s all about to change – as our days start to lengthen as we begin the cycle all over again and head towards June.
